Clinical Psychology Intervention

Embracing Minds Psychology offers a safe and supportive environment for providing evidence-based intervention for a range of mental health difficulties. Such difficulties may include anxiety and depression, trauma, emotion regulation, navigating neurodiverse social world and neuroaffirming strategies, gender and sexual diversity and parenting strategies.

Initial sessions are 75-minutes, with ongoing sessions 50-minutes.

Diagnosis & Assessment

All new clients will be seen for an initial interview with duration of 75-minutes to develop an individualised assessment plan, which may include the following options:

A comprehensive Autism assessment for children or adolescents may include:

  • Session1: Cognitive Assessment (2-hours, child only)

  • Session 2: Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) (2-hours, child only)

  • Session 3: Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R) (3-hours, parent/carer only)

  • Assessment of adaptive functioning and/or emotion-behaviour rating (1-hour)

  • School observations (via phone contact (0.5-hour) or school visit)

  • Comprehensive diagnostic report writing (4-hours)

  • Session 4: Parent/carer feedback session (1-hour)

A comprehensive Autism assessment for adults may include:

  • Session1: Cognitive Assessment (2-hours)

  • Session 2: Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) (2-hours)

  • Session 3: Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R) (3-hours, parent/carer only if available & consent obtained. Optional)

  • Assessment of adaptive functioning and/or emotion-behaviour rating (1-hour)

  • Comprehensive diagnostic report writing (4-hours)

  • Session 4: Feedback session (1-hour)

A comprehensive ADHD/Learning Disorder assessment may include:

  • Session1: Cognitive Assessment (2-hours)

  • Session 2: Academic Achievement Assessment (2-hours)

  • Session 3: Parent/carer developmental history interview (1-hour) if applicable

  • Assessment of adaptive functioning and/or emotion-behaviour rating and/or AD/HD symptomatology rating scale (1-hour)

  • School observations (via phone contact (0.5-hour) or school visit) if applicable

  • Comprehensive diagnostic report writing (4-hours)

  • Session 3: Parent/carer feedback session (1-hour)

A cognitive/functional or review assessment:

  • Session1: Cognitive Assessment (2-hours)

  • Session 2: Parent/carer developmental history interview (1-hour)

  • Assessment of adaptive functioning and/or emotion-behaviour rating (1-hour)

  • School observations (via phone contact (0.5-hour) or school visit) if applicable

  • Comprehensive report writing (3-hours)

  • Session 3: Parent/carer feedback session (1-hour)

Westmead Feelings Program - 2
For primary school aged autistic children​

Facilitated by Clinical Psychologists Talia Burton (Embracing Minds Psychology) & Grace Young (Cove Psychology), the Westmead Feelings program (3 modules over15-weeks) is an emotion-based learning program for children diagnosed with autism (without intellectual disability). This evidence-based intervention aims to increase emotion recognition, perspective taking, problem solving and emotion regulation skills to primary school aged children (aged 8-12-years). 
The program includes;
  • 15 child sessions (maximum group size of 6)
  • 6 pre-recorded parent sessions & zoom Q&A sessions
  • 6 pre-recorded teacher sessions & zoom Q&A sessions
  • Individual progress summary report & parent feedback session
  • Child, parent & teacher workbook

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Skills Group
For neurodivergent adolescents and young adults

Facilitated by Clinical Psychologists Talia Burton (Embracing Minds Psychology) & Grace Young (Cove Psychology), the DBT Skills program (10-weeks) is informed by Dr Marsha Linehan's fundamental teachings and adapted to neurodivergent individuals. 

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) was developed by Dr Linehan to help individuals learn and apply skills to assist with regulating emotions, interpersonal relationships and coping with big emotions.

Clinical Psychology Supervision

Register your interest via the contact form.

Speak with your potential supervisor to discuss your needs and supervision journey. 

A collaborative Supervision Agreement will be completed with agreed duration and fees.

Supervision sessions are typically 60-90 minutes long for individual sessions.
